lantern cottage

The site is located in the Wiswell Conservation Area, Ribble Valley and the property is categorised as a Building of Townscape Merit. The property is not orientated towards the rear garden and therefore has a poor connection both visually and physically to their primary garden space.

As the dwelling is categorised as a Building of Townscape Merit and being located in the Conservation Area, the existing dwelling has a traditional character, and is of heritage value. However, the clients wanted to create a highly contemporary extension to improve the way they live and how they use their house and garden.

The proposal redesigns the rear elevation at ground floor level, creating a highly contemporary extension which stretches the width of the garden, and improves the overall connection to their outdoor space.
